Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) is the new addition in OU MBA Syllabus. Earlier it was dealt as a concept in Strategic Management and Supply Chain Management. With the changes in coursework of MBA worldover, Osmania University also felt the need to introduce BPR as a subject. It has become imperative to introduce subject such as BPR and TQM in MBA due to constant changes in the environment.
Today’s businesses are depending more on process engineering to increase their bottom line and attain competitive advantage. A complete understanding of BPR would make students well equipped for the future. Students should put lot of efforts to learn the concepts of this subject. By reading once you will not understand the concept and reading only from one book is not sufficient. More time should be spent on reading various research papers on this topic for better understanding.
In order to understand this subject, kindly read more and more case studies on BPR. Simultaneously, you can refer Operations Management and Supply chain management text books. These text books cover BPR as a chapter and they provide simple explanation.
Unless you understand the practical operations of business, it would be very difficult for you to understand this subject. Anyways, follow the advice provided here and prepare well.
